Piett's Storyline - The Basilisk of Mass Destruction

Operative Nyx Reporting

Admiral Piett (@Admiral_Piett) insisted on going with me to track down the Imperial General Veers' adolescent son, Zevulon.  Unfortunately, I later realized that the Admiral has been far removed from fighting and he may present more of a liability in the field than an asset (when he got injured while we were attempting to destroy a Rebel cloning facility that was heavily guarded my mercenaries).  I decided to detour to my favorite skytop lounge for the night, and took him on a different type of mission.  This mission was one in which I had to deliver an artifact to the Rebel outpost in the Cloud City.  It was here I was greeted by my Kiffar master, Nij'uan (@Kiffar_Nijuan - temporary role-playing account).  Nij'uan is not a Rebel, but he is a Rebel sympathizer and uses his psychic abilities to aid whenever necessary.

It was at the Cloud City Rebel outpost that Nij'uan showed me what the jewel artifact was to be used for.  It turned out it was a power source of a very large Basilisk droid.  The Rebellion somehow obtained the blueprints for mine/Corden's (@Corden_Maximus) Mandalorian Basilisk battle droid (named Beskar'ad), and modified them into an even larger droid.  This larger droid carried a laser turret on top, which when powered by the jewel, would fire a systems disabling blast at the target.  Essentially, this super Basilisk was intended to take down any war ship the Imperials had.  I left the safehouse completely angry at the sight because what this means is that if the Rebellion has this capability, then that means the Imperials will create something to counter it.  And then the Rebellion will create something more to counter whatever the Imperials make, and the battle just goes on forever.  Soon, there will be superweapons that will either get into the wrong hands, or will be used for the ultimate of evils (e.g., killing the innocent).

If it was discovered that Firmus visited the outpost with me, he and I would both be in deep trouble with our respective organizations.  I took him along just to show him the Rebel operations, and that the Rebels are no different than his Imperials.  We are both fighting for causes we deeply believe in, but something beyond the worker bees such as he and I, is keeping this war on-going.  That is what I deem the Sith, but then the Sith would claim it is the Jedi.  Again, it is a vicious cycle.

None the less, I rented a penthouse suite and spent the rest of the evening with Firmus simply relaxing, exchanging small talk, and ordering in.  We can't always possibly talk about the problems in the relationship, the problems of our jobs, and the problems of the Galaxy.  Spending a bit of time re-connecting and telling how much we love each other helps ground us in reality.

As a side note, I could see it that Nij'uan approved of Admiral Piett.  That approval means so much to me, it truly does.
